One Voice

There are a few accessible things in life that enable you to completely step out of your comfort zone and singing in public is definitely one of them.

We are not requesting that any individual sings alone, we would like the whole group to step up to the plate and join us on the streets of your local area to spread some cheer and help raise money for charity.

Why?

The session will enhance listening skills, develop collaborative approaches using music as a way of looking at leadership and the flexible way it might pass quickly around members of the group, the vitality of the inner parts and their contribution to success, the foundation of the bass line and the importance of cohesion in ensemble for the realisation of the goal. All while raising funds for your charity.

How it Works

A general warm-up for all participants begins the session. 25 minutes of establishing principles of posture and deep breathing and waking up the voice. This period serves to empower all, particularly those who have not taken part in group singing before. It also acts as an ice-breaker.

We then divide into groups, each led by one of our experienced choral directors and accompanied by a pianist. The number of groups can be agreed between us in advance and we will supply the relevant number of leaders and accompanists. We suggest either two or four, the smaller number having cost advantages, the larger meaning that we can work all the more intensively.

We will work on two or three numbers. These we will agree with you. We will welcome suggestions, particularly if you feel there is music particularly relevant to the circumstance. We will advise on suitability and tailor the music to the strengths of the singers in the groups.

In the divided session of 1hr – 1:15 we will subdivide into voice parts, identify strong singers to strengthen parts and for possible solo opportunities, support and encourage less experienced singers and work on learning the selected music so that all are engaged.

The final session will bring all participants together to bring all parts together, develop the presentation of the music, integrate any soloists and prepare for performance.
