Performance Wheelchair Challenge

Why Sports Wheelchairs?

We have had phenomenal success with this challenge. In 2015 alone, this challenge enabled us to donate 31 performance wheelchairs to the likes of Help for Heroes and SSAFA the armed forces charity. Then in 2016, we were able to provide chairs to the non-profit organisation Choice International, to support the setting up of 2 brand new wheelchair basket ball teams. And from 2017, we have started working with Access Sport and The Tennis Foundation, providing sports wheelchairs to grassroots all ability sports.

The chairs are used to give access to sport for recreation and recovery from both physical and mental illnesses. They facilitate a team playing opportunity, which really encourages and supports mental health recovery.

What's in it for you?

A fast paced challenge that puts a team on its toes right from the start. Provided with limited resources and limited knowledge, teams will need to source parts and expertise if they are going to complete the Sports Wheelchair before the final team performance.

How does the Event work?

Working in teams of up to 10, each team needs to build and then compete in their Sports Wheelchair.

To begin with each team is provided with a chassis and some simple instructions, their next step is to acquire the additional parts required to complete the Sport Wheelchair. In order to do this they will take part in crystal maze style challenges and dependent on the result of these will enable them to get the parts they need. They will also have to negotiate with the technicians if they need help with the assembly.

Finally when all the Sports Wheelchairs are assembled, the teams get to either race or compete in a wheelchair basket ball match.

At the end of the event the Sports Wheelchairs are donated to an all ability Sports Club or an Armed Forces Charity.

Suitable for groups from 16 – 600.

Will you Race or Play Basketball at your event?

Your team's legacy

With an ordinary team building event, the fun and impact ends at the end of the event, and if you're lucky, then 'team building' benefits will follow you back into the work place.

With a CSR team building event however, there is a real , tangible and positive legacy of your team's activity. The wheelchairs you build at your event, go directly to charities, and make a huge difference to the lives of people those charities support.

Our Sports wheelchairs have been donated to many disability charities, and you can read about the legacy impact of these chairs, by clicking the charity icons below.

The ability to forge strong working relationships with your team is given a strong foundation, by spending time together in support of a great cause, working towards a common goal that delivers a genuine and real benefit. There is nothing hypothetical or fake about the activities during your event, removing any typical team building cringe moments. On many ocassions, we see the teams go on to support the charity again and again.

What will your team's legacy be?
