How Team GB Athletes can inspire your team and drive up their engagement and performance.
You cannot fail to be impressed and inspired by our Olympic Athletes. Their commitment to being both a team member of Team GB and their personal motivation to achieve their very best potential is exhilarating!
So why do they excel and what can we learn?
Positive mental health and strength are a key factor in their success.
Physical strength and stamina will take them so far, but good mental health is the ultimate tool. With sport (and therefore physical exercise) being enveloped into their daily lives, it can only boost their mental health and strength further. It is after all, well documented that regular physical exercise contributes to good mental health.
2. Our Olympians will also be very well supported by nurturing, engaged and focused coaches,.......
.... working to clear objectives and with the support of great team members. Regular businesses could learn a lot from their approach to team building and performance - the role of the manager is another key element to positive mental health in the team, as documented by the Mental Health Organisation.
So why is good mental health important? Well, from the perspective of your team or business, good mental health of your team means:
Less sick days, and therefore....
Higher productivity, and therefore....
Greater performance, resulting in....
Greater staff satisfaction, and therefore....
Greater staff engagement levels, leading to......
Greater staff motivation, and.....
Greater staff retention levels
A cycle of positivity.
If you need to see figures on why you should spend time on this, well how about the fact that according to MIND, poor mental health costs London’s businesses and industry £10.4 billion each year!
If you think your team could do with a motivational kick start, there are some brilliant team building events and challenges you could consider. At O3e, we take team building even further by combining it with CSR, which in itself delivers even higher levels of engagement, motivation and wellbeing.
Take advantage of the Olympic Buzz and host your very own Sports Day, including Paralympic Sports. Team Build Performance Wheelchairs or take part in a Charity Bike Build, and gift wheelchairs and bikes to our future olympic hopefuls. See how you can make a real difference. Use team building Sports Day to launch a team commitment to improved physical health such as a Bike to Work Scheme.
By including paralympic activities into your day, there is the further benefit of supporting more physically disabled people into sport and therefore in your own small way, tackling the enhanced risk of mental health challenges faced by those living with life-long disabilities who face greater barriers to getting into sport.
It's a win, win, win scenario. To talk through your team's requirements or to discuss any of our inspirational challenges, please get in touch.
